If you do not have a veterinarian for your new puppy you will want to select one. It is a good idea to do this before you bring your new puppy home, He or she can establish a well puppy check up and set up your immunization schedule. If you are traveling a long distance to pick up your puppy and would like to have the puppy examined by our veterinarian prior to leaving with your puppy arrangements can be made (This will be at your expense).
Specific areas you will want to pay attention to with your new puppy are eyes, ears and coat. The smooth soft short hair is easy to groom with a glove. Bathe only when necessary. Clean ears and eyes out as needed. Trim nails often.
Enter your new puppy in to a puppy kindergarton basic obedience class. This will provide socialization and obedience. Both you and your new puppy will benefit.
I recommend crate training for your new k-9 companion. This will be much easier on you and keep him/her safe when you are away.
Don't forget heart worm prevention between 8-10 weeks.
Acquiring a puppy is a big investment in your time, money and your heart. Be sure you are up for this and the rewards will be many.
